Over the years, our roof has weathered storms, stood strong through decades of service, and protected the many people and events that make our building a vibrant and essential part of the community. But now, it’s reached a critical point. After expert assessment, it's clear: the entire roof must be repaired to ensure the safety and future of our space.

Letter from our Priest

Dear Friends of St Mary’s
Thank you for being part of our community, I hope that you feel welcomed, supported and valued as a member of our community. Everything we do in the parish should be a team effort and I strongly believe it is still possible knowing you as well as I do. The Parish is not a community without you the people.
As you know the parish has committed to a major renovation project to replace the roof tiles and carry out significant restoration and repair work to the church fabric. The works will last from early July to the end of November 2025.
The diocese has committed to lending the parish up to £500k to enable these works to be done, and the parish has agreed to repay this within 10 years.

To repay this large sum of money, we need to raise about £50k a year for each of the next 10 years.
Crucial to doing this, alongside holding specific fundraising events, will be the willingness of people to give each month through direct debit or standing order.
If 300 people gave £15 per month that would do it!
Of course, not everyone can afford the same, but every little helps. Please consider now setting up a standing order or direct debit.

This building is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a space for:

Lifesaving outreach services

Education and youth programs

Worship, reflection, and connection

Heritage and history

A failing roof threatens all of this. Leaks, damp, and structural concerns are already impacting what we can do here. Without urgent repairs, we may have to close parts of the building—possibly permanently.
